World Glaucoma Week 2017

Glaucoma; The silent thief of sight. Glaucoma is a disease of the eye that can slowly and painlessly cause permanent loss of vision.

Celebrating “World Glaucoma Week 2017”, as a part of its social activities, Vision Care Mount Lavinia Branch with Nethralokana Sathkara organized a free glaucoma screening program on 12^th march, 2017 at the Branch premises.  The whole program was organized to raise awareness through media, social media as well as 1-1 discussions.  It provided free vision tests, tonometry or eye pressure measurement to check for glaucoma for over 180 walked-in persons.  This opportunity was taken to educate public on the need of periodic eye check-up and the harmful effects of prolonged steroid use.
