Vision Care Hearing Solutions Transforms Sri Dalada Perahera Into a Unique Experience for Visually Impaired

Vision Care Hearing Solutions, a subsidiary of the Vision Care group, continues to make a positive impact on the community by organizing innovative corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This year, the company introduced a groundbreaking event, titled “Perahera Ahanna,” designed to offer visually impaired children the opportunity to experience the majesty of the renowned Sri Dalada Perahera like never before.

For the first time in Sri Lanka, Vision Care Hearing Solutions enabled visually impaired individuals to “see” the beauty of the Randoli Perahera, not with their eyes but with their minds. On August 18th, via a special broadcast on the company’s Facebook page, visually impaired individuals from all across the country were invited to partake in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. This unique event was made accessible to anyone living in Sri Lanka with a visual impairment, allowing them to enjoy the Perahera’s wonder and tradition in an unprecedented way.

A particularly touching moment of the event was when 20 visually impaired students from the Senkadagala Special School in Kandy attended the procession physically, guided by the Vision Care Hearing Solutions team. Through a rich and descriptive audio experience known as “ Perahera Ahanna” these children were able to vividly imagine the sacred beauty of the procession. Their first-hand testimonials highlighted how the event brought the colorful and spiritual aspects of the Perahera to life in their minds.

The impact of this event extended far beyond those present in Kandy. Over 5,000 visually impaired individuals from across Sri Lanka tuned in to the live Facebook event, sharing in the experience. This groundbreaking initiative demonstrates Vision Care Hearing Solutions’ commitment to inclusivity and innovation, making the country’s rich cultural heritage accessible to all.

This unique CSR event by Vision Care Hearing Solutions marks a milestone in how we can bridge the sensory gap for visually impaired individuals, ensuring that they, too, can feel connected to the vibrant traditions of Sri Lanka. By combining technology and compassion, the company has brought the magic of the Sri Dalada Perahera to life in a way never before seen or heard.

“We may not be able to give them sight, but we can give them the experience of wonder. Through words and sound, we’ve opened a door to a world they thought they’d never know.”
