With the most gratifying responsibility of sustaining the environment for another year of life, the Nethralokana Sathkara Foundation has successfully conducted a tree planting project to give the earth a breath of life in alignment with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Vision Care.
On the 18th of November 2022, this tree planting project was launched at Birds Park Estate in Wadakada, Polgahawela, with the major undertaking of initiating the habit of planting trees among our employees whilst ascertaining the value of the plants to the world.
In a world where instructions are being developed for the destruction of nature, the Nethralokana team’s mission with these kinds of projects is to be a motivation for a greener world and environmentally responsible human beings.
As the initial step, 100 plants from Indian sandalwood and 100 plants from Aquilaria agarwood were planted with the participation of approximately 30 volunteers from different functional units of the Vision Care Optical Services and the Nethralokana team.
The main guests of the event were members of GMC, Mr Srimantha Wewalwala, Mr Sudarshana Wickramaarachchi, Mrs Hiranthi Perera, Mr Vidya Jayarathne and Ms Chathira Siriwardana. The project lasted all day, and at the end, each volunteer was gifted with a small plant with a thank-you note as a token of appreciation with the view to create a vibe that planting and looking after trees are a part of the day- today life.
